The Inn at Schoppee Farm is an 1800's New England farm house overlooking the beautiful Machias River. Originally owned by the historic Burnham family, the property eventually became a dairy farm under the direction of Nathan Schoppee, Sr. The Schoppee family ran the dairy, providing products to all of Washington County for three generations.
In the spring of 2004 we purchased and began restoring the main house of the farm. We offer three guest rooms with gorgeous sunrise and sunset views. Enjoy one of our relaxing guest rooms with down comforters, luxurious cotton bedding, antiques, and whirlpool baths. The breathtaking tidal river with views of the "Bad Little Falls" and the unspoiled pastures are ideal for a rejuvenating getaway during any season.
During your stay enjoy a hike along abandoned railroad tracks on the river only steps from your room. Put in with your kayak at high tide and explore the bay where early settlers fought the British in the first naval battle of the America Revolution. Roque Bluff State Park, the Burnham Tavern, Quoddy Lighthouse, Bold Coast Hiking Trail System, Jasper Beach, ATV and Snowmobile Trail Systems from our front door are a few of the day trips around Washington County that will keep you as busy as you want to be.
