After a European tour with the USAF, Machias natives David and Julie Barker returned home to raise their children, surrounded by family and friends. In 2004 the Barkers purchased and began renovating the farmhouse that became the Inn at Schoppee Farm. Staying in contact with members of the Schoppee family they feel honored that the family approves of the renovations to the historic 1800's farmhouse.
Julie has highlighted the simple farmhouse character in each room with functional antiques and modern comforts. You will not find ruffles, potpourri, dried flower wreaths, doilies, or flowered bedding here.
Both David and Julie have been involved in the food and hospitality industry since the early 80s. In addition to transforming the farm, they also own and are highly involved in daily operations of Helen's restaurant where they spend a good portion of their day. In their absence, Maureen is available with helpful friendly suggestions.
Book your stay to rest, unplug, and enjoy.
Beautifully appointed rooms, comfortable and senic surroundings. Great Schoppee reunion, you did not disappoint us. Thank you for keeping the family farm in such a beautiful state of preservation."
